Over $180M invested in Azerbaijanís ICT sphere in 2014

The volume of investments made by enterprises and the structural divisions of Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies in ICT sphere stood at 57.2 million AZN in 2014, according to the report of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies on 2014.
The official exchange rate on Jan.18 is 0.7844 AZN/USD.
A total of 142 million AZN was invested in Azerbaijanís ICT sphere in 2014, said the report.
Around 33 new automatic telephone exchanges (ATX) were put into operation and 54 ATX were reconstructed in the country by using the investments made by communication companies.
The work on laying a cable line with the length of over 1,238 kilometers was carried out by using the investments made in this sphere. The number of ADSL ports increased by over 85,900.
The volume revenues from the ICT sector and postal service of Azerbaijan stood at 1.7 billion AZN in 2014, which is 16.2 percent more than in 2013, said the report.
The share of ICT sphere was 1.9 percent in Azerbaijanís GDP and 3.2 percent in the non-oil GDP.
Currently, the total number of phones for every 100 people in Azerbaijan is averagely 18.65, according to the ministryís statistics.
Some 69.01 phones account for every 100 family in the country. The penetration level of mobile communication in Azerbaijan remained unchanged (110 percent) in 2014.
