Bakutel 2015 Ė a demonstration of the successful development of Azerbaijanís IT-industry
Today, the 21st Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition, Bakutel 2015, organised by Iteca Caspian and Caspian Event Organisers (CEO), opened in the Baku Expo Centre. The high status of the exhibition has been underlined in recent years by visits from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
At the opening ceremony, the First Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ramin Guluzade stressed the importance of Bakutel 2015, as a clear indicator of the programmes for development within Azerbaijanís ICT industry.
Over the last 21 years, the exhibition has gained a reputation as a momentous event in the ICT sector. As such, it has become a tool for collaboration between professionals from many countries and a platform showcasing high technologies. Azerbaijan is one of the countries experiencing high economic growth and the development of telecommunications is a key part of this process. Therefore, the exhibition is able to define the great challenges faced by modern society and the ICT industry, not only in the local region, but throughout the world.
Mr Edward Strachan, from the name of the organisers thanked the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan for its assistance and support and said that this yearís exhibition had brought together 201 companies from 21 countries under one roof, and that 15 per cent of the participants were newcomers. Over the past four years, the exhibition has been visited by over 10,000 people, which is a clear indication of its high status and pace of development.
Traditionally, the exhibition presents industry news, indicating ways of developing the Hi-Tech-industry in the near future. It demonstrates the major trends in 2015 such as the development of a new generation of national broadband Internet solutions, 4G - 5G mobile technologies, services in the field of fibre-optic and cloud computing, e-Government, new technologies for the Smart Azerbaijan project and information security. Innovations in the field of space technology are presented by the company Azercosmos, which is preparing to launch the second telecommunications satellite, Azerspace-2. In addition, some companies present gadgets that facilitate peoplesí daily lives and tasks; these include a variety of mobile applications (Azercell), a unique cable television (Caspian Telecom), the from-scratch creation of call centres, database systems and the MyvideoSmartBox device, which allows you to turn any TV into a Smart TV and watch programmes with a 10-day archive (AG Telekom).
As part of the exhibitionís business programme, a series of workshops will be organised in the Baku Expo Centre for participating companies. In addition to business meetings and negotiations, all visitors and exhibitors can expect surprises, contests and quizzes using IT-technologies. Amazing gifts for visitors have been prepared by the exhibition organizers Iteca Caspian and CEO; the famous illusionist from the London Magic Circle circus will show tricks at Bakutel 2015 using a simple iPad and phone.
The exhibition receives great support from the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The other Azerbaijani agencies that support the exhibition include the National Confederation of Entrepreneursí (Employersí) Organisations of the Azerbaijan Republic (ASK) and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO). The countryís first mobile operator, Bakucell, has become the exhibitionís communication partner for the first time. For many years, the exhibition has been supported by influential structures such as the United Nations (UN) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Bakutel has also been officially recognised by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), which confirms the high standards of its organisation.
