Bakutel 2013 - the most important exhibition in the year of ICT
Bakutel 2013, the largest exhibition for telecommunications and information technologies in the Caspian region and attended by 300 companies from 27 countries, opened today at Baku Expo Centre. On the initiative of Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 2013 was declared the Year of ICT in Azerbaijan. This declaration has become the red thread that runs through Bakutel 2013. An intensive business programme, various activities and many fun events have been laid on for visitors to Bakutel. The cheerfully decorated stands are cleverly and innovatively showcasing the participating companies’ best achievements. The event has been organized by ITE Group plc and Iteca Caspian LLC.
The exhibition has already been visited by President Ilham Aliyev, who toured the stands of leading domestic and foreign companies, and took part in the first Virtual Conference of Azerbaijanis of the World.
The country is successfully introducing the latest technologies, and investments in the ICT sector are increasing each year and having an impact on life in the country. This is stated in the letter of congratulations from President Ilham Aliyev to the participants of BakuTel 2013: "The International Bakutel Exhibition and Conference, held every year in Azerbaijan, creates favourable opportunities for the organizations representing various countries, scientists and experts to come together and share their ideas, expand business contacts, and become familiar with advanced technological achievements and innovations.
The arrangement of this exhibition and conference within the framework of the Year of ICT, with a conference on cyber security and other important events included in its business programme and much broader representation from leading companies, increases the importance of this event."
The President expressed his hope that the exchange of experiences that will take place during Bakutel 2013 will contribute to the further strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between the participating countries, and the creation and implementation of new initiatives at the international and regional levels.
Delegations from Afghanistan, the United States, Hungary, Italy, Israel and other countries are participating in Bakutel. Among the VIP guests of the exhibition are Mr Wu Hongbo, Deputy Secretary General of UNDESA (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs); Mr Hamadoun Toure, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union; Mr Nikolay Nikiforov, Minister for Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation; Ms Zsuzsanna Nemeth, Hungarian Minister for National Development; and Mr Galip Zerey, board member of the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority.
All of the VIPs have noted the successful economic development of Azerbaijan, the rapid advancements made through the use of technology, the highly effective role of the exhibition as a platform for business meetings and the fruitful work of experts and researchers in the field of telecommunications.
Many of the international and local projects in the field of ICT in which Azerbaijan is directly involved are reflected upon in the exhibition. All sectors of ICT development, including telecommunications and networks; broadband, satellite and wireless communications and technologies; broadcasting equipment and technologies; software and automation systems; and IT and office technology are presented for the attention of specialists.
This year’s festive Bakutel exhibition is proving its status as the main and most original exhibition in the industry, pleasing visitors with its many surprises, both from participating companies and from the organizers, ranging from a grand fashion show to laser games, and X-Box and other console competitions. In addition, the famous Titan the Robot has, for the first time, come to Azerbaijan with its show programme to welcome the visitors.
A special role in the rapid development of the exhibition has been played by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Republic, which has provided invaluable support to Bakutel for many years. The international authority of Bakutel is confirmed by the support of and official visits from representatives of international institutions, including the United Nations, the International Telecommunication Union, and the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications, as well as by the support of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry.
