Prospects for organizing direct channels between Azerbaijan and Belarus
Gennadiy Melnikov, First Deputy Director General of BELTELECOM, the Republican Unitary Enterprise:
- We are very pleased to be participating in Bakutel 2013 with an extended stand, demonstrating the possibilities of working with the national operator of Belarus. BELTELECOM has been established in the telecommunications market for 18 years and provides all types of local communication services in Belarus, as well as cooperating with 170 international operators around the world.
The company is aggressively expanding its broadband Internet service in Belarus and is introducing modern xPON technology. We signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with our Azerbaijani counterparts in April 2012, which expanded our cooperation, synchronized promotion in the market and has led to an exchange of strategies, technology and expertise.
One of the objectives of this mission is to hold a meeting with the International Centre for Settlement, where we plan to sign a memorandum on the organization of direct channels between Azerbaijan and Belarus and transit traffic from Azerbaijan to the exchange point in Frankfurt. This will be a major breakthrough in the development of relations that will lead to mutually beneficial cooperation. As part of the exhibition, we are planning to hold a meeting with all telecoms operators in Azerbaijan to conclude an agreement on mutually beneficial cooperation, which will further contribute to the strengthening of Belarusian–Azerbaijani friendship.
