A Firework Display of Innovations
Today is the final day of the 19th Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition, Bakutel 2013. The exhibition was held at Baku Expo Centre and organized by Iteca Caspian LLC and ITE Group plc, with the active support of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The largest exhibition event in the Caspian region took place under the auspices of the Year of ICT in Azerbaijan and thus had special significance.
In this momentous year, Bakutel occupied three halls for the first time, covering an area of 12,000 sq .m.
On the first day the exhibition was attended by President Ilham Aliyev. The President visited all the halls and familiarized himself with the stands of leading local and foreign companies. The President also attended the 1st Virtual Conference of World Azerbaijanis, held at the stand of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In his congratulatory letter to the exhibition, President Ilham Aliyev stated that: "The International Bakutel Exhibition and Conference takes place every year in Azerbaijan, bringing together organizations, scientists and experts from various countries, and creating favourable conditions for the exchange of ideas, the creation of new business contacts, and the discovery of advanced technological achievements and innovations. The implementation of this exhibition and conference in the framework of the ‘Year of ICT’ declared in the country, the inclusion in its programme of the conference on cyber security and other major events, and the broad representation of leading companies further increase the importance of this event."
The President expressed his hope that the exchange of experiences that took take place during Bakutel 2013 will contribute to the further strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between the participating countries, and the creation and implementation of new initiatives at the international and regional levels. The Azerbaijani President wished success to the exhibitors, and offered some advice and recommendations.
During his tour of the exhibition President Ilham Aliyev also gave an interview to Euronews TV Channel.
Bakutel and the events timed to coincide with it gathered a stellar list of distinguished guests, ministers, scientists and business leaders from different countries. On the back of the rapidly growing interest in Azerbaijan, the exhibition made a significant contribution to the further strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between the participating countries. The merits of Bakutel 2013 included the creation and implementation of new initiatives at the international and regional levels, the presentation of the best world-class ICT projects, and a growing number of national stands, organized with active support from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The exhibition effectively presented the technological innovations of many companies, including full 4G coverage of Baku and its environs, as well as trends in mobile and wireless devices, corporate solutions, and the world’s most advanced M2M system, creating conditions for a more comfortable and interesting life.
The festive Bakutel proved its status as the main and most original exhibition in the ICT sector, pleasing its visitors with many surprises, both from participating companies and the organizers. On the first day there was a grand haute couture fashion show. The third pavilion housed a games area, which included X-Box consoles and other interactive games. The laser show put on by Jean Michel Jarre drew the attention of all the guests, as it enabled them to compete in a game with laser strings and even to compose music. The first demonstration in the CIS of “Titan the Robot”, which took place at the exhibition, was particularly popular with visitors.
"The exhibition is not only interesting and informative, but a lot of fun as well, we had a great day!" This was the opinion of many visitors, summarizing their experience - from the study of the latest technologies in the field of ICT to hugely enjoying the unique show, fun quizzes and generous contests that brought pleasure to both adults and children.
HP, one of the largest American ICT companies, acted as the general sponsor of Bakutel 2013.
The exhibition was organized by Iteca Caspian and its partner, the British ITE Group plc.
